Katherine Cappellacci is a Toronto-based actor, singer, and writer. She has worked with a wide range of theatre companies across Ontario, including Young People’s Theatre, 4th Line Theatre, Carousel Players, Tweed & Company Theatre, Globus Theatre, and Grandview Theatre. As a multidisciplinary artist, her work spans musical theatre, large-scale historical epics, TYA, devised and collaborative creation, puppetry, physical theatre, and award-winning comedies and drama. Most notably, she's been a part of many new iterations of Canadian stories and community-rooted performances - which is really the type of theatre she loves to make.
As a performer, Katherine is known for her versatility, physical presence, and collaborative spirit. Her artistic practice is guided by curiosity, authenticity, and a deep belief in theatre's ability to connect communities...particularly in this online age. She’s also a trained singer (mezzo/alto) and plays piano, guitar, and French horn.
Katherine is equally passionate about creation and has co-developed and performed in several original works, including DAY 55 (Toronto Fringe), a short clown piece she wrote and directed. She also directed, co-adapted, and wrote short poetic excerpts for A Moment in the (Secret) Garden, a folk-musical adaptation performed outdoors as part of Musical Stage Co.'s Musical Moments. Her writing practice continues to grow - she was recently selected as a writing mentee for a Bell Fibe TV series and completed the Halls Island Artist Residency. Offstage, she keeps her skills sharp as a freelance writer, having written hundreds of pieces for companies like World Vision, CompTrak, The YMCA, Ocean Wise, Labatt, and Kawartha Dairy.
Katherine has been acting professionally for film, radio, and TV since she was a teenager. Recent credits include Netflix's I Woke Up a Vampire and CBC Gem's Pretty Hard Cases. She is a member of CAEA and ACTRA and graduated with a BFA in Performance Acting from Toronto Metropolitan University.

REVIEWS & PRESS
"Last, but certainly not least, Katherine Cappellacci is brilliant with her humorous and easily recognizable characters of the bystander who calls in the harrowing event and Jane’s supportive sister in law Laura. Bravo."
-Steel City Reviewers for Crane Girl
"Leading the women in the strike was Lil Downer, played with conviction by Katherine Cappellacci. Initially Lil was reluctant, but as she saw clearly how the situation was, she stepped up and was all in for the cause."
-The Slotkin Letter for The Tilco Strike
"Lil Downer (Katherine Cappellacci) is the strike leader...She gives a passionate performance while practically carrying the show on her shoulders."
-Ludwig Van Toronto for The Tilco Strike
"Charming yet awkwardly endearing, Katherine Cappellacci gave a memorable monologue as a young women who was forced to have plastic surgery by her parents in an attempt to make her more “pretty”. Comedic monologues often run the risk of falling flat when the actor lacks stage presence, but Cappellacci was able to handle her comedic lines with perfect timing – effortlessly reading the audience and performing her lines with larger-than-life gusto."
